After one year at the University of Pittsburgh, he decided to drop out and formally enter the family business, which he co-owned with his brother, George, until it closed in 1986. Philip and George co-owned the Manor House Ethan Allen Galleries from 1965 until 1993 and the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries from 1985 until 2005. Philip was the president of the National Home Furnishings A i a i i 1 9 9 1 a was the retailer representative 2 0 a Upholstered Furniture Action Council, a voluntary furniture industry organization designed to make upholstered furniture more fire resistant. He married Iris in 1960 and she joined him in the furniture business and they had a true partnership both at work and home.

He always enjoyed a good book, a single malt scotch and a cigar. As a teenager the family relocated to Tennessee and she remained there until she was joined in matrimony to her late husband, Melzie D. Ramsey. To this union were four children. Mother Ramsey moved to Coraopolis in 1956 and remained here for over 60 years She was an ac i ve member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over 40 years until her illness prevented her from serving.

She was a member of the Fel lowship and Senior Choirs and Sybil E. Dickerson Missionary. With only having an 8th grade education she a Janitor to an Administrative Assistant at the Pittsburgh International Airport employed A Josephine was preceded in death by her two sons, Darryl and Charles Ramsey; and her siblings, Maxine Battles, Mable Murray, James E. Murray and Joe L. Murray.

She leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters, Phyllis Jackson and Barbara Ramsey Sharp; along with six grandchildren, Tarino Northcutt (Kel ley), Phi isa Buchanan (Lanny), Jermaine Jackson (Andrea), Eboni Taylor Tue (Paul), Aakea Sharp and Latinya Jackson Lee; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter and devoted niece, Rita Battles; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends. He attended St. James High School in Wes End. On October 24, 1959 he married Carol Ann Valentine, his wife of 58 years. a a university of hard knocks and had many jobs throughout his life, retiring from Equitable Gas. Of his many work stories, he spoke most fondly of his time at where he met the loves of his life, chipped ham and Carol Valentine.

He served as Pack leader of Cub Scouts Pack 169 at St. of the Assumption, Glenshaw. He was very involved in his church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, William and El izabeth (Stack); and brothers, Maurice and William. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carol Ann (Valentine); daughters, Colleen married to Michael Canary, Tampa, FL, Shannon married to Melissa Ferguson, Canton, OH; sons, Sean, Pittsburgh, Matthew married to Patrick Kubovcik, Towson, MD, Russell Graham, Alexandria, VA; and sisters, Elizabeth Jean and a i i Pittsburgh.

She leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters, Phyllis Jackson and Barbara Ramsey Sharp; along with six grandchildren, Tarino Northcutt (Kel ley), Phi isa Buchanan (Lanny), Jermaine Jackson (Andrea), Eboni Taylor Tue (Paul), Aakea Sharp and Latinya Jackson Lee; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter and devoted niece, Rita Battles; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the COPELAND CORAOPOLIS FUNERAL HOME and on Saturday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Hiland Coraopolis from 10:45 a i 11 :45 a where a Service will be held at 12 noon. Humbly submitted by the Family. Send condolences.
