Reports are expected from the applications committee, Horace F. Baker, chairman; the committee on by-laws, William S. Moorhead, chairman, and the committee on nominations, A. K. Oliver, chairman.

The report of the applications group, which has been making a careful study of the applications for membership, will be interesting, as the vote of the committee on tliis report will determine the initial membership in the welfare fund. Organization of the fund is assured, according to Mr. Coolidge, and a campaign for maintenance funds for the member agencies will be held during the present year. The date of the campaign will very likely be discussed in the meeting on Friday. HOOVER TOPS SMITH IN UNIVERSITY VOTING Secretary of Commerce Favored Over Other Candidates.

Final returns on a presidential straw vote in which 7,736 ballots were cast by the University of Pennsylvania students, their parents and faculty members give Herbert C. Hoover, secretary of commerce, 3,139 votes and Alfred E. Smith, governor of New York, 3,036, with the remaining vote scattered.

The vote was conducted by the editorial staff of "The Pennsylva-nian" and the "Punch Bowl," undergraduate publications, in co-operation with the management of Houston hall, the university's student union. Balloting began on Feb. 20 and the polls were kept open for two weeks to give parents of students opportunity to vote by mail.
