According to information released by the U.S.

Department of Commerce, four building permits were issued in each municipality during the month. Altogether, construction began on 10 new homes along the Kiski Valley in Westmoreland County. The houses being built in New Kensington, Murrysville (three), Lower Burrell (two), and Allegheny Township (one) are valued at (556,407. Only Plum and Indiana Township (one) recorded home-building permits in communities along the Allegheny Valley in Allegheny County. The five houses are valued at $174,000.

Permits also were issued for an office building in Cheswick, and industrial buildings in Indiana and Plum. Following is a breakdown of permit activity in area communities in the two counties, with the estimated cost of the work in parentheses.
